MICHAEL KELLY

Attorney

Mike has an extensive background in the insurance industry.  He has worked in the Claim Departments of Liberty Mutual Group and CIGNA and with the Complex Claim Unit and Excess Liability Claim Department of American International Group.  Mike is a Martindale-Hubbell AV rated attorney and a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI).  He practices in all areas of civil litigation, with a concentration on insurance defense matters and insurance coverage disputes. 

Mike is a 1980 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and a 1989 graduate of Pace University School of Law in New York. He was admitted to practice in New York in 1989.  In 1993, Mike was admitted to practice before Idaho’s state and federal courts.  In 2002, Mike was admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts in Oregon.  He is also admitted to practice before the Unites States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

In the past, Mike coached youth hockey, baseball and softball.  He has been the Risk Manager for USA Hockey in Idaho and past President of the Idaho Amateur Ice Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides scholarships to participants in local ice hockey and figure skating programs, and was on the Board of Directors of the West Boise Little League program.  Mike now spends his free time fly-fishing for trout throughout Idaho or fishing the gulf waters of Florida and Louisiana.

Mike is a member of the Idaho State Bar Professional Conduct Board.  He serves as a Pre-litigation hearing panel chairperson for the Idaho Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators and has served as an administrative hearing officer for the Idaho State Police regarding liquor licensing and related matters.
